Guess What?!?!? I'm PREGNANT!
Which I know is old news for you - and is even older news for me - but now I can say it's really true.
No longer do I have to trust the tests and the symptoms that supposedly mean your pregnant, but have nothing to do with a baby inside of your belly. I mean really, Sweetie suffers chronic heartburn problems and no one has EVER suggested that he's knocked-up. And while the ultrasounds and doppler scans offered "proof" - there's a whole lot of trust that they aren't just playing video or audio tape of someone else's pregnancy.
But this weekend I was leaning up against the sink, doing the dishes, and at a certain point my belly said "Nope, we're not leaning in any further, this is as far as it goes." And it was a lot farther out than with the normal belly.
That's something no one ever tells you. Normal belly (if you are the sort who carries a bit of a belly, as I am) is squishy and jiggly and moves around. So when it's time to do the dishes you just shove it out of the way to get closer to the sink. Baby belly (aka the uterus) is hard and unyielding. It's not going anywhere, so just work around it.
Also, I think I have officially started "showing" - although people who don't know any better still might think it's just fat. Last week I could wear baggy shirts and I didn't look any different than normal. Or, if I weren't wearing something baggy a bit of sucking it in and we were back to normal. There is no more sucking it in. It is out there, sucking or not. And actually sort of resembling the shape of a baby belly, which I know is to be expected but still somewhat surprising.
Based on the size and location of my uterus right now I have formulated a theory. There is a switch on the back of the belly button. As long as the uterus is below that it is in stealth mode and no one knows any better. But as soon as it reaches the belly button the switch gets flipped and - TA-DA! PREGNANT!
Yes, completely unscientific, but a reasonable hypothesis given the way things have gone in my personal experience.
