I have been asked to post progress of the socks. Always one to cater to the whims of my readers, here you go:
(Aside to those who asked: the photos of the fuzzy dice are still forthcoming, that just requires me to walk outside with the camera, which thus far has apparently been outside of my comfort zone)
Anyhow, the socks. They're coming along quite nicely if I do say so myself. There are a few boo-boos, but nothing too major, especially considering it's the first pair of socks and all.
The other day I was contemplating the knitting of socks. It will take me between 10-20 hours of knitting time PER SOCK. Washington State's minimum wage currently sits at $7.63/hour. That's over $150 in labor. Even if I go for Federal minimum wage of $5.15/hour we're over $100 IN LABOR ALONE.
And that's completely ignoring the fact that the yarn alone costs more than more than what I'd traditionally pay for a pair of socks.
And we won't even go into the overhead expenses that could be partially charged to the socks - needles, stitch markers, scissors, etc...
In other words, I've come to realize that as hobbies go knitting does not score high on the cost effective scale.
