Since approximately the third month of SwankPoet v 2.0 Sweetie and I have been planning "The Basement." In an ideal world, it's a finished basement in the eventual House of Swank, but at the least it's the room with the big screen TV and recliner in which we watch movies and sports and such. For different families it has different names: the rec room, the family room, the play room, but for us it is "The Basement." Part of me hopes that the eventual House of Swank DOESN'T have a basement, and we just call the family room The Basement, but I digress.
The important thing is that, since that initial discussion, we have had the decor for the basement planned out. It is the place where we will display all of our sports and pop culture memorabilia. We may need rotating exhibitions, we've got so much stuff (and the collections just grow), but I suspect that when all is said and done our basement will look like the local Applebee's, but with stuff that actually means something to us.
Today at Target I splurged on some accessories for the basement. They'll just get stashed in a corner for now, but for $1.25 each (on clearance) I couldn't resist:
