Pollan is an amazing interview - I have heard him on NPR several times (most recently right after TOD came out). If you can find the old podcast, check out his interview on "Talk of the Nation."

The "corni-ness" of our diet is a fascinating thing, economically. Milk prices have been skyrocketing recently ($4.95/gallon at our local market), and the reason comes down to corn prices, which are going up because of interest in Ethanol-based fuels. If those cows were being fed grass, the price might be higher than the cheapest corn-based milk, but it would be a LOT more stable.
