I have come to the conclusion that no teenager today is capable of pronouncing the word "nuclear" correctly. Even if you correct their mistakes and stress the importance of pronouncing the word correctly they have to physically fight to not say "nucular" - and that's like nails on a chalkboard to me.
I blame our soon-to-be-ex-president, and sure do hope the next guy can help turn the tables.
That makes me cringe, too, but we can't blame this entirely on W. Even Jimmy Carter (who was trained as a nuclear engineer for the Navy) mispronounced it, as did Bush Senior. Like nails on a blackboard, I swear.
