As a result of today's adventures (trip to Target and Fred Meyer's to pick up some things we needed to help efficiently care for the wee one), Hedgehog has now been to two states - 48 to go! Granted, the second state is closer to our home than the hospital where Hedgehog was born; but still, how many people can say they've been to two states before they are four days old? For what it's worth, we're trying to work our way up to a 200 mile road trip when the wee one is less than two weeks old.
At this rate he'll be backpacking Europe the summer before he starts school, rather than at the end of that journey.
So, we ventured out with Hedgehog today. Since our errands were relatively quick we opted to give the Moby Wrap a try, rather than mess with the stroller (that will likely be tomorrow's adventure). I strapped him on to me, and it was everything I hoped it would be.
The one thing I wasn't expecting was just how conspicuous I felt while walking through the stores. Normally I can run all my errands in stealth mode - just another shopper picking up my stuff. But when you've got a 7+ pound baby strapped onto the front of you with a giant piece of red fabric - well, a lot more people pay you a lot more attention. That's going to take some getting used to.
Hedgehog handled it all like a charm. The verdict thus far is that he rather enjoys the car seat and the Moby, but the whole being exposed to the elements between the two is not really his cup of tea. Rain showers phase Mom and Dad more than they do him - cementing his true Northwesterner status.
You sound remarkably functional and active. Congrats to Hedgehog on state #2. I think that's particularly impressive on the west coast, where all of the states are so BIG.

Wraps are awesome, especially for things like the grocery and the airport. We used a sling with the Munchkin, since I was a little worried about the learning curve with a Moby (turns out I had nothing to worry about), and loved it. It did feel a whole lot of conspicuous, though, especially when people would REACH INTO THE SLING to try to grab his finger or something. Hello? Personal space anyone?
